What Is The Role Of The Group Teacher In Advanced Learner’s Club?

The group teacher analyzes students’ assessment reports and creates a personalized learning path by selecting learning materials and assigning homework for the student accordingly. The group teacher is also the personal tutor of each student, monitoring progress, reviewing assignments, and answering questions during in-person sessions.

Why Are Personalized Learning Materials So Important?

Keeping students adequately challenged is a key to motivated learning. There is no one-size-fits-all scenario for the academic success of a student. Individualized materials encourage students to succeed, as they feel both rewarded and challenged by their work.

Why Is It Important To Work In A Group With Similarly Motivated Peers?

Even in an academic setting, social contact between students of similar levels can be greatly encouraging. Learning within a group of high-achieving peers gives students the opportunity to discuss, share, and compare their work to stay motivated under the guidance of the teacher.

How Are ALC Levels Assigned?

In ALC, the grade level of learning is primarily decided by the initial assessment result. A student may not always study in the same grade level as his/her school grade in order to best match their current academic performance level.

How Many Sessions A Week Is Required As A ALC Member?

Each week students are expected to attend two sessions with their group teacher. Each session is one hour long, with one session for math, the other session for English reading and writing.

How Much Homework Is Assigned In ALC?

Students are encouraged to do some homework on daily basis. On average 1.0 -2.0 hours of homework per week will be assigned to students depending on student’s grade and weekly extracurricular schedule.

What If We Had An Emergency And Missed A Scheduled Session?

When you sign up for ALC, you will pick two session hours as your scheduled session time. If you need to miss one session, we will be happy to help student to join another similar group session to make up your missed hour.

Why Are Students Required To Take An Adaptive Assessment Test Before Starting?

To achieve the best learning experience, it’s important to keep students feel motivated as they work with their peers. Our Advanced Learner’s Club brings students with similar levels of motivation and performance to study together, so that every student feels inspired and challenged at an appropriate level.

Can I Only Pick English Or Math Instead Of Working On Both?

Academic English and Math are equally essential skills for student’s future success both academically and professionally. However, we appreciate that some students may need more concentration on one subject. Parents and students have the freedom to allocate the number of session hours towards different subjects. We believe consistency and regularity are key to form good learning habit and learning skills, which is why recommend two sessions per week.
